MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2011 Mar 03

Conditions were Photometric most of the night.

Seeing and Weather:

Observing Summary:

While trying to take focus exposures at the beginning of the
night, we noticed trails on all of the stars in declination,
even in a < 1 second exposure. There were also dark lines moving 
part-way up the images from the bottom. We called Bob Barr, who 
told us that it sounds like the Echelle detector is not working
properly, and that we would have to switch to another one 
tomorrow (Templeton). We closed up at that point.

Also, while attempting to learn how to use the new autoguider, 
we had trouble getting the JSkyCalc24mGS software to run, 
which we need for finding a guide star. We couldn't ssh into
Agung from Hiltner because we didn't know the password. So
we tried to load it directly from Agung. When typing the
appropriate command, it said it was loading stars but gave
an error message at the end of  Index file not found!!
Exception in thread  main  java.lang.nullpointerexception ,
with some other text after that.

We are also curious if it is possible to use the old autoguider
instead of the new one.
