MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2011 Mar 20 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Modspec+Templeton CCD Worked for 7 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: High Winds from 20:00 until end. Beg: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 2+ arcsec, Clear, Winds High End: Clear, Winds Above Limit Observing Summary: Windy. Cirrusy at start, then cleared off after sunset (hones!), then winds picked up and it got cirrusy again -- at that point I closed for an hour or so -- and then it cleared again, but still very windy. I kept the louvers closed and worked in the north, away from the southerly wind. Wind started to gust above 40, rarely, then a little more frequently. Around 3 I thought to check for dust and found it to be a little too much for comfort, so I decided to call it a night, since winds are forecast to keep increasing into the daytime. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2011 Mar 21 [3:31:51]
