MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2011 Mar 28 Observer(s): Grier Institution(s): OSU Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.5+ arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Some light cirrus at the beginning of the night, but it cleared up later. No serious problems, although the guider started doing a not-so-good job towards the end of the night-- all I had to do was run another exposure and restart the tracking and it did fine for awhile but eventually stopped doing a good job again and I had smeared images. I was kind of baffled. It might have to do with the scripts I'm running that use the guide probe to dither... but this worked fine the past three nights, so I don't know why it's failing now. Anyway, it only affected a few frames-- I was able to get it to work well enough most of the time. Other than that, all was well -- I've almost gotten through all of my targets; one more night (assuming it's clear) will suffice. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2011 Mar 29 [5:11:03]
