MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2011 Sep 03 Observer(s): Paust Institution(s): Whitman/Dartmouth Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 7 hours (off and on through the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 11:30 until 4:00. Beg: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Beautiful afternoon which stretched into a great start to the night. Around 11:30 though clouds started rolling in and we were forced to close. Cleared back up around 3:00, but there must have been a very uniform cloud layer. We couldn't find guide stars and images just didn't have the counts that they should have. Outside, everything was bright with particularly large light domes from Tucson and Phoenix. You could see the stars and MW, but a lot of contrast was missing. Finally, around 4:30 the guide stars popped back out but it was too late to do anything other than flats. So, good data in the first half of the night, nothing usable in the second half. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2011 Sep 4 [6:23:11]
