MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2011 Sep 13 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: OSMOS + 'blue' 4k Worked for 3 hours (last half of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from start until 14:00. Beg: Fog/Low Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Fog/Low Clouds, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Started with a lightning shutdown; on restart, caliban did not sync with the IC on the first try, but it worked the second time. Probably my mistake. Weather remained cloudy until after 1 AM, at which point it cleared off for a while, but then it clouded up around twilight. Did manage to get a few targets and re-familiarize with OSMOS acquisition. Critters around -- in the evening I found a centipede on the steps down to the dorm rooms. Disposed of it with a needlenose pliers. Then as I was working in the control room, heard noises from the dome over the intercom; went out to investigate and there was a rat running around in the dome. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2011 Sep 14 [6:25:54]
