MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2011 Sep 18 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth. Instrument: Nellie + Leach GenIII Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Today, the noise problem I was having with the new system mysteriously resolved -- I'd put on an extra ground wire at Bob Leach's suggestion, and tested after I put it on and the noise was gone! But it was also gone after I took the wire off! So we still don't know what was doing it. Very good night - monsoon is over. Seeing was only OK, not spectacular, but it was pho-to-metric. I had to leave at 4:30, and left a retrocam time series going for Helena Uthas and Miguel at the 1.3m. They will close the telescope within the hour. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2011 Sep 19 [4:18:13]
