MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2012 Jan 24 Observer(s): Pinkney & Pleshinger Institution(s): Ohio Northern University Instrument: ModSpec + Nellie Worked for 9 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: High Humidity from 7 until 9 PM. Beg: Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: Slight problem during twilight with OG515 filter blocking the light path. Ended up switching to Position 6 (open). This didn't seem to change the Ar lines present in comps. Also had to use the black air hose to dry off condensation on the CCD window. The moisture probably got there during the dewar fill because the Rel Humidity was not yet high in the dome. It did however climb above 85% around 2:00 UT when we were doing our first star spectrum. We lost a bit over 2 hours to high humidity. After re-opening we had a pretty good night. The RH dropped down to the 60's and it was bit breezy at times. Had to power cycle the rotator once. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2012 Jan 25 [7:13:37]
