MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2012 Nov 11 Observer(s): Emily Bowsher, Stephanie Douglas Institution(s): Columbia University Instrument: ModSpec Worked for 10.5 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Clear, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Seeing was poor at the beginning of the night but improved drastically. We had problems with our arc lamps and flats having extremely low counts, we realized it was because the guide camera was blocking the light. We were able to move the guider to the origin and that resolved the issue. On three observations of different exposure times (900s, 600s, 1200s) we had diagonal streaks going across the detector. In the shorter exposures, the streaks were not much stronger than the background. In the longer exposure they were more noticeable. These streaks did not appear in flats. We couldn't figure out what these were, but they always went away. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2012 Nov 12 [5:39:46]
