MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2012 Oct 03 Observer(s): De Rosa, Fausnaugh Institution(s): OSU Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 8 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable, bright moon End: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable, bright moon Observing Summary: During the afternoon, while taking calibration, the IC computer crashed. Bob was still here. He tried to reboot it, but it was DEAD. Bob needed to change the IC computer (thanks!). At the beginning of the night, we sadly found out that, as a result, the scale for the images real time display needed to be reset. We called Bob, who helped us to reset it, but we were not able to find the optimal range for the display, which slowed us down in acquisition and focusing during the entire night. Around 9 UT prospero got stuck again. Solved it with CtrlC: the IC stopped integrating and we were able to re-start the exposure. Bright moon. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2012 Oct 4 [5:33:12]
