MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2012 Oct 04 Observer(s): De Rosa, Fausnaugh Institution(s): OSU Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable, Bright Moon End: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm, Bright Moon Observing Summary: Cirrus clouds all night. At the beginning of the night we had some issues focusing the telescope. Solved later, thanks to Rebecca. At 04:15 UTC, Prospero complained about the disperser wheel (couldn't find the disperser wheel). Following the trouble shooting, we tried to reset the disperser, but the error persisted. Called Bob and Rebecca. Rebecca figured out that it was a hardware problem. As per instructions, we cycled the power on the OSMOS IE box, and restarted TCS, MIS, and the data acquisition software. Everything came back to life, but filter2 (currently empty) was not recognized (which caused some scripts to fail at first). The second half of the night went very smoothly, we obtained plenty of data. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2012 Oct 5 [5:46:35]
