MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2012 Oct 06 Observer(s): De Rosa, Fausnaugh Institution(s): OSU Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Clouds and cirrus all night. Difficult guiding due to clouds. Everything was fine until 11:30 UTC, while we were trying to move the disperser, prospero gave us the same error as a previous night (10/4). We tried to reset the disperser, but it did not come back. We solved the problem following the same procedure as last time: cycled power on IE, then restarted all of the data acquisition software. Run ossetup in prospero as Rick suggested, and everything went back to normal. While trying to slew to zenith at the end of the night, the equinox set-up stopped responding, and then the xtcs panel vanished. We reopened it, and reset the link from MDMTCS. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2012 Oct 7 [18:12:20]
