MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2012 Sep 03

Bad weather most of the night.
Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details.

Seeing and Weather:
   Clouds all night.

Observing Summary:

Monsoon continues; looked promising at sunset, but clouded up 
and never cleared.  A band of storms passed around midnight, but
not bad enough to do a lightning shutdown.

We think we figured out the xmis2 offset problem -- we needed to
 reset mis .  The program does not automatically re-zero the 
xy stage on startup, like the old one did -- you have to pull down
 Reset mis .   initialize  doesn't do it either (like the old
one did).  We never got on sky to test this tonight, but it looks 
like a good rational explanation.

Noticed the mirror AC was not cooling in the afternoon, and 
re-setting the compressor breaker didn't cure it.  Also, one of
the paddle focus buttons is sticking badly.

Did not refill Nellie.  Switch to spectrograph with Templeton,
please.
