MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2012 Sep 04 Observer(s): Thorstensen & Skinner Mangold Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Modspec + Templeton Worked for 0.3 hours (part of the night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: High Humidity from 20 MS until end. Beg: Overcast, Winds Calm Mid: Fog/Low Clouds, Winds Calm End: Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Observing Summary: OK but humid at start; opened long enough to get focus with the new instrument and take a test spectrum of a bright star, but clouds rolled in and the humidity climbed. Rainstorm with some thunder later at night -- lightning shutdown. Brought computers back up afterward. Began clearing up very late, but humidity still very high. No trouble, except for previously reported mirror A/C issue; did not move the guide probe (on-sky time was extremely brief). Did not attempt to use focus button since xtcs set focus widget offers much the same functionality. More or less as a joke, I'm tempted to issue a trouble report complaining that the font is too big in the new xtcs. You can't see the whole coordinate string the way it's laid out now. Since it's running on Hiltner, it's a little surprising that the appearance has changed. [Forgot to submit this in the mental fog at the end of the night, but contacted Rick Pogge the next day and he kluged up a fix to the xtcs fontsize issue, just like that!] ------------------------------ Submitted on 2012 Sep 5 [20:17:31]
