MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2012 Sep 08 Observer(s): Jules Halpern Institution(s): Columbia U. Instrument: Modspec+Templeton Worked for 2 hours (part of the night) Conditions were Overcast most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Overcast, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Overcast, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 2 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Lightning and some rain in the first half of the night. Getting familiar with the new computers. Getting bias, flats, dark frames. Flats taken during the day showed some irregularity, possibly due to condensation or light leakage. Flats taken at night are more regular. It finally cleared enough to open at 2am. Seeing and transparency are poor. Perhaps that is why guiding is not good. Observed the CV CSS0015+26, to have an easy target. It has a weak emission line. It clouded over again at 4am. Gave up at this point. It was just enough time to test out the system, so I'm not sorry. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2012 Sep 9 [4:27:54]
