MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2013 Apr 25 Observer(s): Jenna M. Nugent Institution(s): U. of Oklahoma Instrument: OSMOS, R4K Worked for 3.5 hours (part of the night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: I observed for some time without any problems. Then, during an exposure Prospero froze. After trying a few things, I was able to continue taking images. Then around 11 pm, I heard a strange grinding noise coming from the dome. This happened twice, stopping before I could determine its source. Right after this, I began having trouble with the guider. I would expose and no stars would appear. Since it was not cloudy, I tried several diagnostics and determined that the guide probe camera was either out of communication with the xmis, or something more serious was wrong. I tried quitting xmis(using the drop down menu, not the x), but got an error when I tried to re-load it. Since my exposures are long and need guiding, I decided to close down for the night around 2 am. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2013 Apr 26 [3:18:57]
