MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2013 Dec 29 Observer(s): Gianninas, Darsaklis Institution(s): University of Oklahoma Instrument: CCDS Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 2.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 2.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 2.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Upon pointing to my first target I realized that the pointing was off. Following the procedure to reset the RA and DEC encoders at zenith, I was unable to find the bright star when I reset the encoders. It took almost 2 hours to finally find a bright star that showed up just outside the field of the acquisition camera. During the rest of the night I had to re-center on bright stars on a few occasions. Luckily my observing program is more heavy at the end of the night so the delay caused by this issue was somewhat mitigated. Besides the pointing issue, everything worked well and we had a full night of clear skies for observing though the seeing was not that great. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2013 Dec 30 [6:49:49]
