MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2013 Feb 28 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Modspec + Templeton Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: High Winds from 2 MST until end. Beg: Seeing 1.5+ arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds High End: Seeing 1..5 arcsec, Clear, Winds High Observing Summary: First night of spectroscopy. Clear, but with poor seeing at times, and then increasing winds that finally were gusting above 40mph by the beginning of twilight. I noticed bits of stuff blowing in my flashlight beam, so I closed a little bit early. No equipment problems. It might be good to check that the mirror petals came down in order. It was mighty windy when I closed them. Also, I hope I didn't get too much schmutz on the mirror. The CO2 wash sure is a good idea ... ------------------------------ Submitted on 2013 Mar 1 [5:59:22]
