MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2013 Jul 13 Observer(s): A. Gianninas Institution(s): University of Oklahoma Instrument: CCDS Worked for 1.5 hours (last half of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 9:00 until 2:30. Beg: Overcast, Winds Calm Mid: Overcast, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: After submitting my report last night, I took a look outside and saw nearby lightning so I performed the lightning shutdown before going to bed. When I woke up, there still seemed to be a threat of lightning so I waited awhile before starting up all the computers. Early in the evening, around 6:00pm, there was once again lightning in the distance so I shutdown once again. I finally turned all the systems back on around 8:00pm but didn't open the dome until midnight. For about an hour I tried to acquire a star but the cloud cover was too thick so I closed again at 1:00am. At 2:30am, I opened up again as the sky cleared up and I was successfully able to observe until twilight at 4:00am. I then proceeded to closeup and fill the dewar. There does not seem to be any threat of lightning from now until noon, so I have left the computers systems on. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2013 Jul 14 [4:49:18]
