MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2013 Jun 01 Observer(s): Fausnaugh/Villanueva Institution(s): OSU Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 8 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Night started with light cirrus clouds, improved over the night. No major problems. The air conditioning sensor behaved strangely during the day, fluctuation between an ambient dome temp of 36 C and 46 C. Although the mirror temperature consistently read ~10 degrees lower than the ambient temperature, it is unclear how long the air conditioning was on-- an error 'System Disabled-- sensors malfunctioning' appeared. We had found that the software was frozen at 1500 local time, but the fluctuating readings continued after resetting the software. After we opened and the ambient temperature dropped, the sensors behaved reasonably. The mirror was about 1 degree warmer than the ambient temperature all night. After checking the temperature readout, the mirror temperature appears to be responsible for the degradation of seeing during the last two nights. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2013 Jun 2 [5:46:19]
