MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2013 Oct 06 Observer(s): Fesen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: CCDS Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 2-3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.5-2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Highly variable seeing during the first half of the night. Started off near 1 arcsec but grew to 2, 3,and even 4 arcsec at times. Became much better the second half, ending in near subarcsec seeing conditions. Light clouds/cirrus during the second half of the night, possibly related to the improved seeing. The link to the CCDS acquistion camera was lost after 1 hour of observing and was traced to a loose USB connection at the SBig camera's USB dongle (both amber and green lights have to be on before it can establish a link). This happened a second time following a slit rotation but was quickly fixed. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2013 Oct 7 [5:38:13]
