MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2013 Sep 04 Observer(s): R. Mark Wagner Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDS Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Productive night. Had problems with the CCDS acquisition camera and control system. After moving from the east to a target 1h17m west at +5 deg communication with the camera was lost. I slewed to zenith so I could safely reach the camera. After several restarts of the computer it failed to come back. I then cycled the power to the camera on the instrument and restarted again. THis time it came back. I then slewed back to the west target and it failed again. Went back to zenith and checked all the connections. Restarted and it appeared to work but after one iteration I got a shutter error and it stopped. Talked to Eric. Recycled power to the camera yet again and operation resumed. No problems the rest of the night. Lost a little time from the problem. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2013 Sep 5 [5:39:22]
