MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2014 Aug 22 Observer(s): R. Mark Wagner Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDS Worked for 1 hours (part of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: High Humidity from 21:15 until 04:30. Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm, Humidity 83% Mid: Fog/Low Clouds, Winds Calm End: Fog/Low Clouds, Winds Calm Observing Summary: First night of 2014B. The telescope and CCDS came up without any issues. After threatening clouds most of the day it began to clear just after sunset. The 4-m operator gave the ok to open around 20:15 and the humidity was within limits at MDM. But after opening for about an hour the humidity reached the 85% limit and I closed. The 4-m reopened around 03:15 and the humidity at MDM was below the limit but the building was dripping wet so I shut everything down for the night. No issues were encountered. The facility is in great shape. The screen insert covering the garage door worked great. It is a welcome addition. The new guider focus GUI worked great as well. The new WiFi works pretty much all through the facility. Thanks to Eric, Paul, and Tony for their efforts during shutdown. I only slewed to one target but it came up within 15 arcsec of the hotspot I set on the slit so the pointing looks ok so far. The recalibration we did of the CCDS slit width zero point over the summer was also successful. 87 microns does now correspond to 1 arcsec so the table on the CCDS web page can be used again for slit width adjustment. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2014 Aug 23 [13:14:56]
