MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2014 Feb 02 Observer(s): Seth Cohen Institution(s): Dartmouth College Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 6 hours (part of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Overcast, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 2.3 arcsec, Overcast, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Tonight was an all-night cloud battle. The beginning and the end of the night were overcast, so I was not able to take twilight flats, nor was I able to observe a standard star after my last science object. The middle of the night was intermittently cloudy, which meant that every exposure taken included some time in which clouds were passing. Like last night, closing the dome dropout was accompanied by a thumping noise, but it closed fine. In the middle of the night, after selecting a guiding star in the Guide Star Selector, the guider couldn't find the chosen star. I discovered that I had to apply dy = 500 to the guider every time to get it to find the star I had chosen. This continued for the rest of the night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2014 Feb 3 [6:16:34]
