MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2014 Feb 03 Observer(s): Seth Cohen Institution(s): Dartmouth College Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 7.5 hours (part of the night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: High Humidity from start until 11:07. Beg: Clear, Winds Calm, high humidity Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The humidity was high at the beginning of the night, but once it fell, conditions were great! Seeing was around 1 arcsec all night. I did have to close quickly for about an hour and a half in the middle of the night because the local (and I mean local) humidity jumped from 70% to 90% due to a cloud sliding directly into the dome. The one small problem was as follows. Starting the previous night, when I would try to find a guide star, I would have to manually add a dy of 500 for the guider to find the star I had chosen. Tonight, sometimes I would have to not only do dy=500, but also dx=-500. The need for the dx move would occur seemingly at random, though the dy move was always necessary. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2014 Feb 4 [6:40:14]
