MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2014 Jan 01 Observer(s): Gianninas, Darsaklis Institution(s): University of Oklahoma Instrument: CCDS Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 2.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 2.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: The night started well but about an hour into the night I encountered a problem. After slewing to my next target and proceeding to rotate to the P.A., I came back into the control room to find the acquisition camera giving an error message. I tried shutting it down and powering it back up but without success. I then went back out into the dome and noticed all the lights and indicators on MIS and CCDS were off. With the help of Jules, we found that the plug of the power strip that sits on the east side of the telescope came out of the power socket. Once that was fixed, it was still necessary to reboot all the software, but once that was done, everything was running correctly and even the pointing was still good. All in all, I lost a little under 2 hours. Other than that, everything went fine and it was another productive night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2014 Jan 2 [7:19:36]
