MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2014 Jan 21 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Modspec + echelle CCD Worked for 5 hours (off and on through the night) Conditions were Overcast most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Mid: Overcast, Winds Calm End: Seeing 2 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Mostly cloudy in the afternoon. For an hour or so after sunset it was usable, but it clouded up entirely early in the first half. Around 2:30 in the morning most of the clouds dissipated, and I worked until dawn with some cloudy intervals. Got some usable results on bright targets, and got on sky with the modspec to be sure everything was working. No problems to report, but the telescope isn't setting well -- when you go south the target is still farther south, and vice versa. If I get the right conditions I'll try to run a pointing test. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2014 Jan 22 [7:24:42]
