MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2014 Jan 22 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: modspec + Echelle CCD Worked for 13 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Mostly pretty clear, with some cirrus and a little bit of breeze now and then. Seeing was decent. Got quite a bit done. No troubles to report, but the rotator angle gave crazy readings (in the 100s) on one occasion. I rotated back toward zero until it gave a realistic reading, went back toward the angle I wanted, and the rotator angle displayed correctly. This is a known bug of completely unknown origin, difficult to find because it occurs so seldom. Got a spectrum of the M82 supernova; I don't imagine mine was the only one taken last night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2014 Jan 23 [7:21:52]
