MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2014 Jul 01 Observer(s): Hainline, Carroll, Jones Institution(s): Dartmouth College Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: We observed all of our targets on a night of excellent observing conditions. We did have a problem wherein JSkyCalc was relaying guide probe X and Y positions to the guide probe, which moved, but no star appeared in the position. The angle was indeed set to the rotation angle that the telescope was at, but the probe was not picking up any objects. We just moved the probe around until we found a bright star, and guiding worked. This only happened at around halfway through the night, and by the end, we were able to find the guide stars with minimal difficulty. I don't know what to do besides what we did if the guide probe is not correctly finding guide stars through JSkyCalc. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2014 Jul 2 [5:21:57]
