MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2014 Jun 08 Observer(s): R. Mark Wagner Institution(s): OSU Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 8.5 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Excellent night. This concludes the last of a 10 night run. Among issues for tonight, we lost pointing after slewing across the sky at reasonable positions. In two cases a nearest bright star was not in the full OSMOS field of view and we had to go back to the stow position to reset. We did not refill MDM4K in the morning since it is coming off the telescope. We cleaned up the data disk and put all of our files and scripts in a temporary wagner subdirectory for now. Finally at the start of the night, M1 was not raised by the mirror support system. Called Eric and we traced the problem to the compressor on the east side of the building. The switch was on but the unit was off. I pushed the switch to off and the unit came on briefly. I then turned it back on and it ran and the mirror came up normally. No problems with the M1 mirror support the rest of the night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2014 Jun 9 [5:14:37]
