MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2014 Jun 13 Observer(s): Graham Kanarek Institution(s): Columbia U Instrument: TIFKAM Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Clear, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: Weather was great, no clouds to speak of. The adjustments made to the guider earlier in the day helped a little, but not much. The dx offsets were still pretty unpredictable. However, I was able to observe very efficiently by nodding the telescope with the paddle; I discovered that the guider program automatically adjusts the pixel position of the guide star when a new exposure is taken after moving with the paddle, so that I didn't have to set the new position when resuming guiding. Two notes: first, the urinal in the bathroom runs after flushing unless you jiggle the handle (sometimes a lot). Second, when I went out to fill the dewar in the morning, I discovered a bolt and washer lying on the elevator, seemingly fallen from the telescope during observing. I left it where it was, which will hopefully facilitate its replacement. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2014 Jun 13 [12:58:47]
