MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2014 Jun 30 Observer(s): Hainline, Carroll Institution(s): Dartmouth College Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: We were able to observe four targets, three galaxies (two definite AGNs, one probably a very weak AGN) and one mysterious object requested by John Thorstensen which has a high proper motion. We were able to get adequate exposure times and calibration images throughout the night as well. The only issues we ran into were that the slit/aperture wheel paper provided on the screen was incorrect compared to the slits actually in the instrument, although w picked up on this well before the night began. We only ended up using the 1.2 inner slit (position 4), but it'd be nice to have the correct sheet taped to the monitor. We also ran into the small-guider-probe-motions issue late in the evening, and so I had to manually put the star on the slit, because I'm not sure exactly how to use the x and y positioning in the MaximDL camera control window to rectify this issue. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2014 Jul 1 [5:11:44]
