MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2014 Oct 24 Observer(s): Ryan Chornock Institution(s): Ohio University Instrument: CCDS/Retrocam Worked for 12 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: This was originally scheduled as a Mark III run, but I switched to CCDS because of the broken shutter. Mostly spectra of supernovae, plus some imaging with RETROCAM. The seeing was good in the middle of the night, but blew up towards dawn, although I was pointed at higher airmass by then. I lost about half an hour in the morning due to pointing issues. I was trying to remember to set the encoders at the position of each object before moving on the next one, but maybe I forgot once. Anyway, it became progressively harder to find even bright stars in the slit viewer. I went to zenith and rezeroed the encoders and things resumed working after that. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2014 Oct 25 [6:41:11]
