MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2015 Dec 10 Observer(s): Stephen Lawrence Institution(s): Hofstra/Columbia Instrument: OSMOS (imaging mode) Worked for 7 hours (first half of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.7 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Moderate End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Varying cirrus from sunset until power interruptions and thickening cirrus shut us down at ~3 AM. Power interruption killed the Internet, which was my primary link to the MDM manuals. So both I and the observer at the 1.3m had trouble figuring out what to do if the main power was having brief interruptions. The paper manuals in the observing rooms are scattered and some pages note that they are out-of-date. Conservatively, we both decided to follow the lightning shut down procedure, just in case the power troubles worsened. No internet, couldn't submit a timely night report. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2015 Dec 12 [11:43:35]
