MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2015 Dec 13 Observer(s): Stephen Lawrence Institution(s): Hofstra/Columbia Instrument: OSMOS (imaging mode) Worked for 11 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: High Winds from 5 AM until dawn. Beg: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 2.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 2.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds High Observing Summary: The night was photometric, but had very poor seeing. I shut down at around 5 AM when Kitt Peak closed due to high winds and we had gusts in the upper 30's that were making guiding difficult. The only serious problem was in the afternoon of 12/13, when I was attempting dome flats. The mirror cover petals closed in the wrong order. Eric G. talked me through the procedure to get them to open again. The TCS control GUI window crashed twice, but restarted smoothly. The OSMOS instrument reported losing the link to the TCS information twice, both times after running a 'call roiXk', but the 'tcsinit' and 'tcstatus' commands fixed that. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2015 Dec 14 [9:03:02]
