MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2015 Dec 15 Observer(s): Douglas, Nunez Institution(s): Columbia Instrument: ModSpec/Echelle Worked for 9 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Light & Variable, poor seeing Mid: Cirrus, Winds Moderate, poor seeing End: Cirrus, Winds Moderate, poor seeing Observing Summary: We had an exciting mix of mostly minor issues, but still managed to get a decent amount of data. Astronomically, seeing was poor and there were high clouds in the second half of the night. We lost about an hour at the beginning of the night to fixing the pointing. We also lost half an hour in the middle of the night to things that go bump in the night (we now think the issue was a door to the dome not closing all the way, then being shaken into closing properly when the dome moved) The guider went haywire on one target and started jerking the telescope around in random 10-15 jumps. Finally, as we closed up, one of the mirror cover petals didn't close at first. (See trouble reports for the last three items.) ------------------------------ Submitted on 2015 Dec 16 [6:22:51]
