MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2015 Dec 19 Observer(s): Douglas, Núñez Institution(s): Columbia University Instrument: Modspec/Echelle Worked for 0.5 hours (part of the night) Conditions were Overcast most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Very bad weather all night. Beg: Overcast, Winds High Mid: Patchy Clouds, Winds High End: Overcast, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: High winds and cloudy skies dominated the night. The first half of the night had wind gusts up to 35 mph, with both high and low clouds covering at least half of the sky. The second half of the night had gusty winds up to 29 mph, with a significant cloud cover. We opened the dome when the winds subsided somewhat, but we were only able to observe a couple of bright targets for 30 minutes, as clouds made it difficult to track them. After we closed, cloud cover continued, humidity increased precipitously and was expected to go above 85%. We thus called it a night. The W mirror cover had trouble opening again, we are submitting a separate trouble report. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2015 Dec 20 [3:39:51]
