MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2015 Dec 29 Observer(s): Matthew Penny Institution(s): Ohio State University Instrument: OSMOS/R4K Worked for 1 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: High Humidity from 6pm until 4 am. Beg: Fog/Low Clouds, Winds Calm Mid: Clear, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Incomplete fill of dewar morning before resulted in the dewar temparature rising to -93, but complete fill in the afternoon brought temperature back down without instrument warming further. Night started very humid after snow during day. Inspected dome for snow or ice accumulation in daylight, but could see none. KPNO indicated domes open around 1am, but MDM & ARO humidity sensors continued to report high humidity until ~6 am (VLBA sensor matched KPNO). At ~4am, concluding that the results were erroneous I tentatively opened the dome and watched the dome humitity reading for any changes. Opening the dome dropped the in-dome humidity by ~10%, so I turned off the mirror heating/AC and began observing. Only managed to get a standard star spectrum before twilight encroached. Took plenty of darks thru night though, and a nice set of sky flats in g. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2015 Dec 30 [8:25:33]
