MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2015 Jul 01 Observer(s): Thorstensen & Alper Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: modspec + echelle CCD Worked for 8 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: There was a little cloud around all night, but it was miraculously clear overall -- best night this run by far. A couple of minor glitches. At start, after shutdown, the air bags hadn't come up to pressure, really; typing 'h3' fixed the problem. Also, instrument rotator had to be power-cycled before it worked. Finally, had to clear the dewar window with dry N2 before starting (though to check before sunset), but then, weirdly, had the dewar fog up around 2 AM even though the RH was only in the 70s. Never had that happen before -- simply re-purged and left a hose attached running very slowly. Left the computers up since there appeared to be no danger of lightning in the morning. Thanks to everyone for a good run (under the circumstances!). ------------------------------ Submitted on 2015 Jul 2 [8:37:11]
