MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2015 Jun 28 Observer(s): Thorstensen&Alper Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: modspec+echelleCCD Worked for 6 hours (last half of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Overcast, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: A thunderstorm passed by in the afternoon, close enough for a lightning shutdown. When I brought things back up I found that HP3 was reading the normal 30 pounds, so I did not type the h3 command to the airbag computer. We had partial clearing around 11, and battled patchy clouds for the rest of the night, but it was mostly clear for the last hour or more; HP3 was normal every time I looked at it. Seeing was surprisingly good. I did notice that the out-of-focus images are bright in the southeast quadrant, almost a diamond-ring effect, suggesting that we're not quite all the way there yet on the collimation, but I seem to remember it being somewhat like that in the past. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2015 Jun 29 [5:02:35]
