MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2015 Mar 13 Observer(s): Wagner and Wilber Institution(s): OSU Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 10 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: High Winds from 00:00 until 05:30. Beg: Seeing 2 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 4 arcsec, Clear, Winds High End: Seeing 4 arcsec, Clear, Winds High Observing Summary: Seeing was pretty bad all night. It started out at about 2 arcsec and got steadily worse. After the winds picked up after midnight the seeing rose to about 4 arcsec. We used the time to get a few targets and get the next observer familiar with opening, running the telescope and OSMOS, and closing at the end of the night. One thing to note was that we tried some center slit acquisitions with OSMOS and had difficulty. Only with the 1.2 arcsec center slit were we able to successfully complete an acquisition using the oalign.py script. Both the 1.4 arcsec and 3 arcsec center slits put the slit position and target in the wrong location. There were no issues with the inner slits. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2015 Mar 14 [14:51:10]
