MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2015 May 11 Observer(s): Oey, Spencer Institution(s): Michigan Instrument: CCDS Worked for 1.5 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Clear, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Spent all night from 8:00 until 3:00 trying to get the pointing set up. sometimes got it, and then had a couple self-inflicted resets. When lost, spent hours trying to get it back. Finally diagnosed that the default pointing seems to be off by about 12 arcmin North. Eric warned that the collimation is off. This is indeed the case -- images are severely distorted, look like cones. Losing lots of light from slit. Makes using guider scary, but guider seems to be working ok on the 3 exposures we tried, in spite of the strange PSF. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2015 May 12 [5:41:11]
