MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2015 Nov 23 Observer(s): Hodges-Kluck, Park, Shinn, Jeon Institution(s): Michigan/SNU Instrument: OSMOS-B Worked for 12 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Observing went very well almost all night, with good weather and no problems. Several targets were observed. However, close to morning twilight the dome encoders got lost and the dome started rotating and getting stuck, occulting the telescope (possibly similar to the fugue state mentioned in prior trouble reports). We tried to follow solutions from the archive, but the dome is still somewhat lost (we stowed it manually, but it has the wrong azimuth). Also, it wants to move -- the TCS says attempting to move with drives off . In addition, slightly after this problem started, the Dec encoder stopped responding and thus we basically lost tracking (stars appeared as streaks). Since daylight was breaking, we didn't solve the problem but we did get the telescope to zenith and stowed it there. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2015 Nov 24 [7:20:38]
