MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2015 Oct 02 Observer(s): Ryan Chornock et al. Institution(s): Ohio University Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.25 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.25 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Some clouds at dinner, but clear for most of the night. I observed various supernovae and quasars with OSMOS + R4K + red VPH grism while the students in my astro lab class circulated between the two telescopes. Some notes: I put objects above the middle of the slit to avoid the region of weird noise in the lower half of R4K. Also, it is hard to avoid generating saturated icicles around the edges when taking spectroscopic flat fields, even if the peak counts are fairly low (~10K). In the morning, I ran into an issue where the cable leading to the shutter became unplugged during twilight so I missed some calibrations and standards. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2015 Oct 3 [6:36:25]
