MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2015 Sep 19 Observer(s): Paust Institution(s): Whitman/Dartmouth Instrument: OSMOS/4K Worked for 6 hours (last half of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 2 arcsec, Overcast, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.25 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The night started out with bad weather, but we brought the telescope out of lightning shutdown at about 10 pm (there had been relatively nearby lighting to the South in the afternoon). We had mostly clear weather until around 2 when a large mass of clouds moved by. However, after an hour, the sky became completely clear, possibly even photometric. The seeing was pretty terrible, around 2.0 arcsec at the beginning of the night and then staying above 1.25 arcsec in the morning. I had two minor problems. First, the Prospero Status window is behaving oddly. If you change virtual desktops, it changes to only being a black box. When you update some information though, the changed data appears. Everything worked, so it seems like it's just an issue of the font switching to black on black or something crazy like that. We also had a spot of frost form in the center of the window over the course of taking flats. The humidity wasn't too high (it peaked at about 72%), but apparently that was too much for the window. I'll blow nitrogen on it in the afternoon. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2015 Sep 20 [6:29:48]
