MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2016 Apr 04 Observer(s): Baldassare Institution(s): University of Michigan Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 5 hours (last half of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Overcast, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Had trouble with setting RA/Dec encoders - if you use a bright star from JSkyCalc and don't update the coordinates in the xtcs window, the RA/Dec encoders don't set properly (they set to whatever coordinates are in the xtcs window NOT the next object coordinates). The result of the RA/Dec encoder problems was that the telescope got lost and hit a west limit. Was able to get it out by slewing East. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2016 Apr 5 [5:52:45]
