MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2016 Dec 08 Observer(s): Douglas, Núñez, Gibson Institution(s): Columbia University Instrument: Modspec/Nellie Worked for 11.5 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Clear, Winds Calm End: Cirrus, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Humidity near 50% prevailed during the whole night, accompanied by clear skies and calm winds. Only some minor cirrus clouds appeared near the end of the night. We saw dew covering the detector when we took flat exposures at the beginning of the night. We blew N on the detector for a few minutes to clear it up. Near the end of the first half of the night, the dome lost track of its position. We discovered this when we noticed that the dome was partially obstructing the telescope in one of our exposures. We manually fixed its position and it kept working OK after that. But at the end of the night when we brought the dome home, it was pointing to 20 degrees instead of 320, so we moved it home manually. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2016 Dec 9 [6:14:51]
