MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2016 Feb 21 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Modspec + echelle CCD Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: A very nice clear night, one day before full moon. Seeing was generally pretty good, too! No problems with equipment, though I noted in the afternoon that the history graphs on the mirror AC computer were showing nonsense. Also, on slewing to one of my first targets -- a standard star on the meridian and just north of the equator -- I heard a flopping sound like a mirror petal opening. Nothing seemed amiss - I hadn't actually noticed whether all the mirror petals were up when I'd opened them. Probably nothing needed except to cycle the covers a couple times to be sure nothing is sticking. Dome was not centered on contact at the end -- adjusted and reset the azimuth reading by 0.8 degrees. This has been an extremely productive run, in part because it's been so very long (11 nights), and in part because of the weather, but largely due to the diligence of the support staff, which is much appreciated. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2016 Feb 22 [6:54:39]
