MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2016 Feb 25 Observer(s): R. M. Wagner Institution(s): OSU Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 12 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Best night of the run so far. Winds calm. IQ was 0.9 arcsec for part of the night. Two issues were noted. It took 2 hours to recover from a major problem with the pointing in RA. This happened during a slew from one target to another. We could not find anything even in the full OSMOS FoV. After several attempts, we went back to the startup config with the tilt sensors and reset. Still way off. Did this 2 more times. Finally restarted the TCS. Things came up but we found our setup star sitting 7-8 arcmin off in RA. After resetting the pointing seemed to work fine. Then at a different time, the tracking continued even after having turned the track off with the switch. On and back off fixed the problem. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2016 Feb 26 [7:30:46]
