MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2016 Jan 31 Observer(s): Nunez, Douglas Institution(s): Columbia Instrument: ModSpec/Echelle No Observing (see comments below) Bad weather most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Very bad weather all night. Observing Summary: Clouds, howling wind (gusting over 50 mph at times), rain, snow, and high humidity! We did not attempt to open the telescope. Despite our best efforts, some of the west-facing louvers froze in place with a small gap left open, so at one point there was some snow blowing around in the dome. A lot of things are wet near the walls, but the instruments on the telescope seem to have stayed dry at least. The mirror airbag readings continued to fly all over the place, but as we couldn't open anyway, it didn't affect our night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2016 Feb 1 [4:16:35]
