MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2016 Jul 04 Observer(s): R. M. Wagner Institution(s): OSU Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 8.5 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Productive night in spite of several problems. Image quality was an issue at the start of the night. The images showed coma plus some amount of trefoil from the mirror support. Air bag values were fine. The trefoil went away during the first part of the night so it could be a thermal issue. I had the same dome following issue as seen in a report from June 28. I ended up running out to the chamber all night to move the dome. I was on the same target all night and it had a DEC of +30 so it was really only an issue near the meridian. The last problem was during shutdown. The RA drive was running even after the drives switch on the panel was off. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2016 Jul 5 [4:33:28]
